Explosive hazards that have featured in recorded HD accidents

Anti-personnel (AP) blast mines
Anti-personnel fragmentation mines
Anti-Tank mines
Submunitions
Explosive (HE) in mines

The following list is of explosive hazards that have featured in recorded Humanitarian Demining accidents and incidents. After some of these events it is not possible to identify the hazard with any confidence.

The list is rather shorter than you might expect. Other lists show all mines known to have been manufactured or offered for sale. This list gives a far more realistic picture of the predominant mine types in the ground and still active... I have perhaps seen three times as many types on my travels. Some were atrophied and inert, others were just easy to find safely, and some were on display in offices but never found in the field.
